Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti says that the club will not make a decision on Marcelo's future until after the Champions League final.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that no decision has been made on Marcelo's future.

The 34-year-old's existing deal at Bernabeu is due to expire at the end of June, and as it stands, he will be leaving the Spanish champions on a free transfer.

A number of Brazilian clubs are believed to be interested in signing the left-back on a free transfer, and it had been claimed that the experienced defender was keen to seek pastures new this summer.

However, according to Marca, the Brazilian is determined to sign a new contract at Real Madrid despite the fact that he now plays a reduced role at the club.

Marcelo has only made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, with 11 of those coming in La Liga, where he has contributed two assists.

Ferland Mendy is the team's first-choice left-back, while David Alaba is also capable of playing in that area of the field, which have restricted Marcelo's minutes this term.

Ancelotti has revealed that Los Blancos are yet to discuss a new deal with the South American, and there will not be any talks until after the Champions League final with Liverpool at the end of May.

"We haven't spoken with the club about what he's going to do because we have the challenge of the final, after that we'll all sit down and talk about it," Ancelotti told reporters.

Marcelo has captained Real Madrid to wins over Getafe and Espanyol in recent weeks, but he was not available against either Atletico Madrid or Levante due to a calf problem.

The defender played twice in the group stage of this season's Champions League, meanwhile, featuring off the bench against Shakhtar Donetsk and Sheriff Tiraspol.

Marcelo then made his third Champions League appearance of the season against Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the competition, playing 42 minutes of their second leg at Bernabeu, which went to extra-time.

In total, the Brazilian has represented Real Madrid on 545 occasions in all competitions, contributing 38 goals and 103 assists in the process.

The former Fluminense youngster has won six La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey crowns during his time at the club, in addition to lifting four Champions League trophies, with the full-back going in search of his fifth European Cup this term.

Luka Modric, like Marcelo, is also out of contract at Bernabeu this summer, but the Croatian is believed to be on the verge of signing a new one-year deal.

Meanwhile, Vinicius Junior is allegedly in line for a fresh contract which will see him triple his wages at the club, having been a vital player this term, scoring 21 goals and registering 20 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions.
