Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni believes that he "deserves" a new deal with the national side after leading them to the Euro 2012 finals.
The Italian manager is expected to be offered a new contractl by the FAI after Ireland defeated Estonia over two legs in the Euro 2012 playoffs.
"We said we did not want to put any pressure on the FAI but in the future, we will talk about this," said Trapattoni. "It was important for us to have clarity.
"I have said I think we deserve a new agreement, Marco (Tardelli, assistant coach) and myself. We are now happy with the squad. We find new players in almost every game.
"We have done what we were asked to do by the FAI and the Irish people. They chose us for this reason and I think we have given the perfect answer with qualification."
The Irish side are seeded alongside France, Czech Republic and Denmark and could therefore meet England in the Euro 2012 group stages.
