Hooper brace seals Norwich City comeback

A brace from Gary Hooper seals a dramatic comeback for Norwich City away to Watford in the League Cup.

Two late goals from Gary Hooper completed a dramatic comeback as Norwich City beat Watford 3-2 to progress to round four of the League Cup.

Norwich started the brighter of the sides, posing an attacking threat through youngster Nathan Redmond, who forced an early save from Hornets' keeper Jonathan Bond.

However, the hosts took the lead midway through the first half as Javier Acuna's drive was too good for keeper Mark Bunn.

Although it was Watford to enjoy the first clear chances, it seemed to settle Gianfranco Zola's team as they began to make a greater impact.

Norwich still carried a threat and almost equalised when Bradley Johnson's header from a corner clattered the crossbar.

Watford found a second goal thanks to Marco Faraoni and the hosts were in sight of the next round.

However, debutant Josh Murphy, who came on a as second-half substitute, pulled a goal back for the Canaries when he received the ball from Redmond and struck from 20 yards past Bond as Chris Hughton's charges looked for a late revival.

They managed to force extra time when Hooper, making his first start for the Norfolk club, headed home in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

With the game edging closer to a penalty shoot out, Hooper latched on to a long ball and calmly slotted the ball through Bond's legs and see the visitors into fourth round of the League Cup.
