Ashley Cole has decided to stay put at Roma despite having been left out of their Champions League squad, according to reports.
The 34-year-old joined the Serie A side from Chelsea last July but struggled to secure a permanent place in the Giallorossi's starting XI, playing just 16 times for them in his debut season.
According to The Mirror, a source close to Cole said: "He's not going to be cancelling his contract to go back to play for a lower-league club. He'll stay where he is and then consider his options."
Cole was reportedly the subject of a deadline-day bid from Newcastle United.
