Cesena frustrate Sampdoria in goalless draw

The Serie A match between fifth-placed Sampdoria and struggling Cesena ends goalless.

Sampdoria failed to break down Cesena as they played out a goalless draw in Serie A this evening.

Angelo Palombo almost opened the scoring for Sampdoria, who are unbeaten at home, but Federico Agliardi was equal to the effort and tipped it over the bar.

Luis Muriel and Eder both had chances to give the home side the lead before half time, but neither player could convert.

In the second half, Sampdoria continued to press, with decorated Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o striking narrowly wide.

However, Cesena were determined not to be broken down and held on to claim a valuable point.

The draw leaves Sampdoria in fifth, level on points with fourth-placed Napoli, while Cesena remain 18th, six points from safety.
