Celtic full back Charlie Mulgrew will make his first appearance for Scotland when they face Slovenia on Wednesday.

Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew will be handed his international debut in Scotland's friendly against Slovenia tomorrow night.

Craig Levein has named the 25-year-old at left-back for the Scot's trip to Koper on Wednesday, with Russell Martin handed a start at right back.

The Scotland boss has decided to rest the Cardiff City players that featured in Sunday's Carling Cup final defeat to Liverpool.

Bluebirds duo Don Cowie and Kenny Miller both miss out but Liverpool's Charlie Adam is selected despite playing 120 minutes at Wembley.

Levein earlier announced that Wigan Athletic's Gary Caldwell will captain the side from the start of the game for the first time.

Full Scotland team: Mcgregor, Martin, Gary Caldwell, Berra, Mulgrew; Morrison, Adam, McArthur, Forrest, Mackie; Mackail-Smith
