Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Luton Town

Sports Mole rounds up all of Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Luton Town.

With the chance to temporarily rise to the top of the Premier League table, Tottenham Hotspur head to newly-promoted Luton Town for Saturday's lunchtime kickoff.

Ange Postecoglou's team scraped past a nine-man Liverpool crop 2-1 last weekend thanks to a last-gasp Joel Matip own goal, although their win was overshadowed by an incorrectly disallowed Luis Diaz strike for the Merseysiders.

Owing to that huge stroke of fortune, the second-placed Lilywhites are just one point behind leaders Manchester City, who they can leapfrog with a victory at Kenilworth Road before Pep Guardiola's team tackle Arsenal on Sunday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with the Hatters, who went down 2-1 to Burnley on Tuesday evening.

Brennan Johnson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: October 23 (vs. Fulham)

Brennan Johnson picked up a hamstring injury against Arsenal in September's North London derby, and while the Welshman avoided a serious problem, he will not be able to force his way into contention for the weekend.

Ivan Perisic

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

In contrast, Ivan Perisic will spend months recovering from the ACL injury he sustained in training last month and could have played in a Spurs jersey for the last time ahead of his expected departure in 2024.

Rodrigo Bentancur

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: November 25 (vs. Aston Villa)

Rodrigo Bentancur is slowly but surely entering the final stages of his recovery from a serious knee problem, but he is yet to return to full team training and is not expected back for another several weeks.

Ryan Sessegnon

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: November 25 (vs. Aston Villa)

Ryan Sessegnon is believed to have resumed light training as he rehabilitates from the hamstring operation he sustained over the summer, but the Englishman will also be unavailable until the end of November at the earliest.

Bryan Gil

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: October 7 (vs. Luton)

Bryan Gil is back in full training with his teammates following his groin issue, and Postecoglou has confirmed that the Spanish attacker could make the squad this weekend.

Giovani Lo Celso

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 7 (vs. Luton)

Giovani Lo Celso's thigh injury proved more difficult to overcome than first thought, but the Argentine has also resumed ball work with the rest of the squad and might be involved at Kenilworth Road.

Alfie Whiteman

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Shot-stopper Alfie Whiteman is on the road to recovery from ankle surgery, with no timeframe being placed on his return, but he is only on the fringes of the first team anyway.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S SUSPENSION LIST

Tottenham have no players suspended for this match, but Yves Bissouma has picked up four Premier League yellow cards already this season and will incur a one-match ban if he is booked on Saturday.
