Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has said that he is "nearly there" as he bids to return to full match sharpness following almost a year of injury problems.
Winks, 22, impressed for Tottenham in the early stages of the 2017-18 campaign and also put in a man-of-the-match performance on his England debut against Lithuania in October.
The midfielder picked up an ankle injury in November, however, and eventually underwent surgery in May.
Winks has appeared as a substitute in Tottenham's last three Premier League matches, and the Englishman is confident that he can regain his best form in the coming weeks.
"I've been out for five, six months and it takes time but I feel like I'm getting back to my match sharpness. To play in those Champions League matches last season, the likes of Real Madrid, that was the pinnacle," the London Evening Standard quotes Winks as saying.
"I think I performed well and that's the level I want to get back to. I'm confident I can do that. It will take time because I've been out for so long but I feel I'm on the road to that, nearly there."
Winks has scored once in 64 first-team appearances for Tottenham.
