Dick Advocaat: 'Winning is the only important thing'

Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat admits that he is not concerned with how his team play, as long as they survive this season.

Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has said that he doesn't care how his side play, as long as they secure enough points to survive in the Premier League.

The Black Cats sit just one point above the bottom three, having won just four games all season in what has been a tough campaign.

Advocaat told Sky Sports News: "I said the only important thing in the final eight games is winning, the way that we do is not important, so if we win games very ugly I like that, play very negative if the need is there.

"I have seen a team who likes to work, so I am pleased. It showed that if you work as a team and not an individual, I am sure that you get the luck you need. Now I have time to see my best line up."

Sunderland next face Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear derby.
