Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has insisted that manager Gus Poyet is doing a "good job" at the Stadium of Light, despite a lack of Premier League wins.
The Black Cats have secured just two triumphs in their last 16 top-flight fixtures, which has placed them 16th in the table, three points above the relegation zone.
On Saturday, Poyet, who wrote an open letter to the Sunderland fans last week, oversaw his side play out a goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion.
"The manager has been very honest," The Express quotes Cattermole as saying. "He has said an awful lot because he wants the fans to know directly from him.
"The manager is doing a good job. It doesn't happen overnight. You have to get players in and out. You have to be patient in football. There are no doubts. We are all pushing in the same direction and have to make sure we finish this season well."
This Saturday, Sunderland will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in their next league game.
