Philippe Senderos expecting a lot from Switzerland

Philippe Senderos admits that a lot is expected of Switzerland at the World Cup.

Switzerland defender Philippe Senderos has admitted that a lot is expected of the team at the World Cup.

The Swiss, who play their opening match against Ecuador on Sunday, are currently in sixth place in the FIFA rankings thanks to a strong qualifying campaign.

While claiming that there is plenty of pressure on him and his teammates, Senderos has revealed that the squad is also full of expectation.

"People both at home and overseas are expecting a strong showing from us, but we're also expecting a lot from ourselves," he told FIFA.com.

"We've got to push each other on to ensure we keep improving. With the quality we have in our team, we believe we can beat anyone."

Senderos recently joined Aston Villa following a four-year spell with Fulham.
