Wales name Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale in their squad for next week's friendly, despite the club's claim that he is injured.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has been named in the Wales squad for a friendly encounter against the Republic of Ireland later this month.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of reported bids from Real Madrid in recent days, with the player himself said to be extremely keen to move to the Bernabeu.

Spurs to this point are thought to have rejected Madrid's approach and have claimed that he is injured.

However, that has not stopped Wales boss Chris Coleman from making the former Southampton player part of his squad for the match on Wednesday, August 14.

Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, who has spent much of the last 16 months on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury, has also been included.

Wales squad to face ROI: Wayne Hennessey (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Glyn Myhill (West Bromwich Albion), Owain Fon Williams (Tranmere Rovers), Ben Davies (Swansea City), James Collins (West Ham United), Danny Gabbidon (Crystal Palace), Chris Gunter (Reading), Adam Matthews (Celtic)
