Ex-Stoke City boss Tony Pulis urges Ryan Shawcross to play for Wales

Tony Pulis believes that Stoke City captain Ryan Shawcross should switch his allegiance to Wales after receiving just one cap so far for England.

Former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis believes that Ryan Shawcross would secure a regular spot in the Wales team after receiving numerous snubs from England.

The 27-year-old Stoke captain, who has gained just one cap for the Three Lions, is eligible to represent Wales, for whom he played as a schoolboy.

"I'm convinced he should be in the England squad and if that's not going to happen then my attentions would be turned to crossing the border," Pulis told The Sentinel.

"If England don't think he's good enough, Wales certainly do. I know that for a fact. He would be joining a Wales team with a genuine chance of qualifying for Euro 2016, so there's some big games to be had if he made that choice."

Shawcross is expected to play his 300th game for the Potters in December.
