Quique Flores: 'Watford must prove top-flight credentials'

Watford boss Quique Flores feels that the club will only attract better players by achieving positive results in the Premier League.

Watford boss Quique Flores has revealed that he found it difficult to improve the Hornets' squad ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.

After replacing Slavisa Jokanovic as the club's manager, Flores made as many as 16 signings during the summer, but the Spaniard has insisted that despite the number of new arrivals at Vicarage Road, he found it a struggle in the transfer market.

The 50-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "We should not need lots of money, we have to convince players with our performances.

"For Watford this year it was very difficult to make a team because I experienced this as Getafe manager 12 years ago, and know how difficult it is to sign amazing players in the first year.

"You have to prove you are able to stay in the division and show you are able to play well and fulfil high expectations."

Watford have recorded 10 points from their opening nine matches this season, leaving the club in 15th position.
