Alan Irvine hoping for Saido Berahino reaction against Chelsea

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine claims that Saido Berahino will be boosted by his inclusion in the England squad.

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine has admitted that he is hoping being away with the England squad will encourage Saido Berahino to produce another impressive spell of form.

Roy Hodgson decided against using the Baggies striker in the wins over Slovenia and Scotland, but Irvine believes that spending time around will give his forward a big boost ahead of his return to Premier League action against Chelsea on Saturday.

"He has to look at the last two weeks as a great experience - one that helps him to become a better player," the West Brom boss told reporters. "If that helps him to raise his game to another level then fantastic.

"We will get the benefit of that and ultimately Saido will as well. It is vitally important he has learnt a lot in these last two weeks and that helps him make the progress he needs to continue to make.

"It is great for him to be recognised in this way, he needs to learn from the experience and become a better."

Berahino has scored seven goals in 11 appearances in the Premier League this season.
