James Morrison: 'I've got a new lease of life'

West Bromwich Albion midfielder James Morrison reveals that the arrival of new head coach Pepe Mel has given him a new lease of life at The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder James Morrison has admitted that he didn't deal with his exclusion from the starting lineup at the start of the season as well as he should have done.

Morrison found himself in and out of the team under Steve Clarke, but after Pepe Mel was named as the club's new head coach in January, the Scottish international has revealed that he is enjoying his time playing under the Spanish boss.

The 27-year-old told the Express & Star: "It was frustrating at the start of the season. For six years, I've been a regular and a main player, so not to be involved was hard to take. I probably didn't take it as well as I should have, but a new manager coming in gives you a new lease of life.

"It's difficult when you're not playing for five or six games and then you start a game. It is tough. And I haven't really played my proper position too much."

Morrison has featured in four of Mel's five games in charge of the club.
