Stephane Sessegnon relishing West Brom debut against Sunderland

Stephane Sessegnon insists that he is ready to help new club West Brom beat his former employers Sunderland if he makes his Baggies debut at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Stephane Sessegnon has insisted that he is fully motivated to secure new club West Bromwich Albion victory against his former employers Sunderland at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

The 29-year-old joined the Baggies in a club-record £6m deal on deadline day after Black Cats manager Paolo Di Canio made him available for transfer.

Delays in his work permit application prevented the Benin international featuring in last weekend's draw with Fulham, but he is in line for his West Brom debut when Sunderland visit the Midlands on Saturday.

Sessegnon was a fan favourite at the Stadium of Light, but he has stressed that his loyalties lie with Steve Clarke's side, revealing that he is relishing his first appearance in a Baggies shirt.

"I respect Sunderland because I played the last two seasons there," he told his new club's official website. "Now my mind is on West Brom and, if I play, all I'm focused on is getting a result for West Brom.

"Training has been good and I've really enjoyed my first week or so at the club. I've been impressed by what I've seen from my new teammates.

"This game is important not just for me but the team because we need the win. Last weekend was frustrating for me. Now I just want to play football - and I can't wait for the game tomorrow."

Sessegnon scored in both of Sunderland's games against West Brom on his way to scoring seven goals in 35 Premier League appearances during the 2012-2013 campaign.
