Stewart Downing frustrated by draw with Manchester United

Stewart Downing believes that West Ham should have beaten Manchester United following their 1-1 draw at Upton Park.

West Ham United midfielder Stewart Downing has admitted his frustration following the team's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

The Hammers looked on course for the win at Upton Park on Sunday, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils when Daley Blind netted a late goal for the visitors.

Downing believes that he and his teammates were superior to the Red Devils and should have come away with the three points.

"We're frustrated because we thought we were the better team," he told the club's official website. "They played a lot more direct than I thought they would, but we dealt with it and it's the only real chance they've had. The only thing [missing] was that we didn't score the second because if we had I think we'd have won the game."

West Ham continue their Premier League campaign on Wednesday when they travel to high-flying Southampton.
