Sam Allardyce: 'West Ham United need seven more points'

Sam Allardyce believes that West Ham need seven more points to secure their survival in the Premier League.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has called on his players to get seven more points to guarantee their Premier League survival.

The 12th-placed Hammers currently have 31 points, which puts them six points clear of the relegation zone.

However, Allardyce believes that two wins and a draw from their last nine games should keep the team in the top flight for another season.

"At this stage you can't tell whether it's going to be as little as 36 points to stay up but I certainly think 38 points should be fine," he told the club's official website.

"It's about getting to 38 as quick as we can otherwise the pressure mounts again if you keep losing football matches."

West Ham's Premier League campaign resumes on Saturday when champions Manchester United visit Upton Park.
