Fabian Balbuena is to undergo a medical with West Ham United as the Premier League side have met the release clause in his Corinthians contract.
The Paraguay international is expected to become the Hammers' fourth summer signing in the next 48 hours, following the arrivals of Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski.
Balbuena has featured 61 times for Corinthians in the Brazilian top flight since arriving from Libertad two years ago, winning the title in each of his two seasons at the club.
An agreement has now been reached for the 25-year-old to move to the Premier League, though, with a Corinthians statement reading: "The amount offered was the same as the amount required by the other party in the contract renewal, signed two months ago.
"The defender is already cleared for medical examinations for a transfer to the London club."
Balbuena has won five caps for Paraguay after making his international debut for the South American nation in 2015.
