West Ham chiefs are reportedly hopeful of securing a new contract for star man Manuel Lanzini, whose current deal has just 12 months to run.

West Ham want to extend Manuel Lanzini's contract at the London Stadium, according to a report.

The 26-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal with the Hammers, although the club do have an option to extend it by a further two years.

According to Sky Sports News, West Ham were keen to see how the Argentine recovered from a serious cruciate ligament injury before entering into new talks.

The injury was sustained on international duty in 2018 and caused Lanzini to miss the World Cup in Russia.

The former River Plate youngster made his return to first team action in February in a 3-1 victory over Fulham and the club are now positive that he can return to his very best form.

Lanzini registered five goals and six assists in the season prior to his injury and the Hammers will be hoping he can return to that kind of form this season.
