Wigan Athletic are close to sealing the signature of defender Stephen Crainey, according to reports.
Crainey is available on a free transfer after turning down a new contract at Blackpool, and according to Sky Sports News, the 32-year-old is having a medical at the DW Stadium.
Wigan face competition to sign the former Celtic full-back, but with boss Owen Coyle looking for a replacement for Maynor Figueroa, the Scot could be tempted to move to the Latics.
Crainey has been at Blackpool since 2007, and has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the Bloomfield Road outfit.
