Kenny Jackett: 'We would be unlucky to miss the playoffs'

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett feels that his side would be unlucky to miss out on the playoffs if they manage to win their final game of the Championship season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett believes that his side would be unlucky to miss out on the playoffs if they win their last game of the season.

Jackett's men kept their push for promotion alive as a strike from Benik Afobe was enough to hand them a 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The Midlands club now sit in eighth place in the Championship and are in a four-way battle with Ipswich Town, Derby County and Brentford for the final two spots in the playoffs ahead of the final match of the season.

Jackett told Sky Sports News: "We've got 75 points now with one game left, and if we can win our last game at home against Millwall that would take us to 78. If we don't get into the top six with those type of figures, then I think we'd be unlucky.

"You're coming off the pitch and you're looking for something to break elsewhere in the country. Both Brentford and Ipswich winning has made it tough for us, and perhaps taken the wind out of our sails.

"But all we can do is focus on next week, try to do our job and try to win as many games as we can. If we can do that, we can build on things as they are now."

Wolves take on relegation-threatened Millwall, Jackett's former club, next Saturday at Molineux.
