Burnley close gap on Leicester back to four points

Burnley remain in the automatic promotion places after seeing off Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

Burnley have closed the gap on top-of-the-table Leicester City back to four points after beating Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

Danny Ings's 24th goal of the season fired Burnley into the lead, courtesy of a right-footed strike from outside the box which rocketed into the top corner of Marek Stech's net.

The same man came close to making it two shortly after, though his bending effort following a Scott Arfield backheel went narrowly over the crossbar.

The away side did get a second, however, as Sam Vokes converted Dean Marney's unselfish pass to double the Clarets' lead.

Sean Dyche's side came close to getting a third goal after some neat interplay by goalscorers Vokes and Ings, though the Welshman's volley was well held by Stech.

Burnley were almost left to rue missed chances as Kieffer Moore's shot-cross on 80 minutes found its way past everyone in the box, including keeper Tom Heaton, to give Yeovil a lifeline.

The hosts failed to draw level however, and remain in the bottom three.
