New Zealand team manager Darren Shand believes that France should not have received a fine for encroaching on the haka before Sunday's World Cup final.

The France squad linked arms and formed a V-formation before fanning out as they marched from the 10-metre line towards halfway.

As a result the International Rugby Board took the decision to fine the French team £10,000.

"They came to play and that was great," Shand said. "The culture challenge is that. It should be done and then we get on with the real stuff."

The Kiwis won the match in Auckland 8-7.
