Angelique Kerber will contest for a place in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open after making it through to the quarter-finals courtesy of a 6-3 7-6(5) win over Andrea Hlavackova.
Kerber took the first vital break of the contest, which gave her an advantage over her Czech opponent, who failed to break back and launch a challenge.
While Hlavackova served well and kept the contest tight, it wasn't enough to make an impact and Kerber secured the first set with ease.
The second set was more of a tussle between the pair, with neither competitor able to launch the first break. However, it took a late push from Kerber to nab the vital point and book a place in the quarter-finals following a tie-break.
