Eugenie Bouchard moved into the quarter-finals of the French Open thanks to a 6-1 6-2 victory over Angelique Kerber this afternoon.
Many had predicted that world number nine Kerber would advance through to the final eight, but she was on the back foot as early as the second game when she was broken by her Canadian opponent.
Bouchard, ranked 16 in the world, went on to win the opening five games, before wrapping up the first set in just 23 minutes.
Kerber managed to hold her first service game of the second set, but Bouchard went on to break at the next time of asking. From that point onwards the 20-year-old was in control and she went on to secure the win in under an hour.
She will now take on either Ajla Tomljanovic or Carla Suarez Navarro for a place in the semi-finals.
