Andy Murray sees off Jeremy Chardy in Rome

Andy Murray's clay-court dominance continues with a 6-4 6-3 win over Jeremy Chardy in round two of the Italian Open.

Andy Murray has continued his recent momentum on clay with a straight-sets triumph over Jeremy Chardy in the second round of the Italian Open.

There was little to separate the men during the opening set, but Murray eventually broke the world number 38 to move 4-3 ahead before seeing it out 6-4.

While Chardy worked hard to contain the Brit at the start of the second, Murray proved too strong once again and was able to seal his progress 6-4 6-3 with minimal fuss.

The world number three, who received a bye in the first round, will now meet either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or David Goffin for a berth in the quarter-finals.
