Live Commentary: Olympic tennis - day two as it happened

Live text coverage of the second day of Olympic tennis action at the All England Club, courtesy of Sports Mole.

Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of the second day of Olympic tennis action at Wimbledon.

On the opening day yesterday we saw men's top seed Roger Federer just come through against Alejandro Falla, while today we have the women's top seed Victoria Azarenka in action.

Great Britain's Andy Murray, who lost in the first round of the doubles yesterday, also begins his singles campaign in a tough match against Stanislas Wawrinka.

Follow ALL the key moments from SW19 below.

20.42So that's about it for today. The @WimboGroundsman recently tweeted this: "Shade over court one wasn't conducive to helping keep the court dry as the temp fell so the tennis for today was called on safety grounds." We'll be back tomorrow for a much more productive day of play hopefully. I've just checked the forecast and it's good news! There's only the slight possibility of a shower at SW19. See you in the morning here on Sports Mole.

20.17Just as I say that, PLAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR THE DAY!

20.17No official word that the day's play is cancelled, though.

20.13Centre Court's schedule for the day is done so there'll be no more action on the main showcourt.

20.10So, just to confirm. THERE IS NO PLAY AT THE OLYMPIC TENNIS AT THE MOMENT BECAUSE THE COURTS HAVE BEEN DEEMED TOO SLIPPERY.

20.03Tsonga will face either Tatsuma Ito of Japan or Canadian Milos Raonic in the last 32 at Wimbledon.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 6-4 BellucciGAME, SET AND MATCH! Bellucci has put in a wonderful effort but it's Tsonga who advances to the second round and what a point to finish too. Tsonga serve-volleys, Bellucci's return is good, forcing the Frenchman into a low volley before the fifth seed flings himself at a pass to seal the win. He is face down in the turf but absolutely buzzing! Fantastic.

19.58We can't win. The latest tweet from @Wimbledon confirms that any remaining play on the outside courts has been stopped. It reads: "Sun still shining, but the issue now is that the courts are too slippery. What a day." You're telling me.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 5-4* BellucciTsonga earns 0-40 on the Brazilian's serve but Bellucci is brilliant in saving three match points in moving back to deuce before holding serve at the first advantage. The Frenchman must serve it out.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 5-3* BellucciThat's some serious grit from the Frenchman. He is taken to deuce by Bellucci, who's producing some of his best tennis but can't quite earn the break back, squandering his one and only break-point opportunity.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 *4-3 BellucciBREAK! Here comes Jo-Wilfried! The Frenchman moves up to fifth gear and breaks with a sublime game of tennis. He's just two games from the second round now.

19.44GAME, SET AND MATCH! Scare over for Djokovic who has breezed through the third against Fognini, 6-2. The Serbian world number two will next play either Andy Roddick of the United States or Slovakia's Martin Klizan.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 3-3* BellucciBoth men hold serve on Centre meanwhile. Beautifully poised this one.

19.40GAME, SET AND MATCH! They're all coming to an end! 15th seed Nishikori is the next to finish as he comes out on top again in the tie-break against Tomic. The Japanese will play the winner of the Davydenko-Stepanek match.

19.39GAME, SET AND MATCH! Ferrer holds onto his serve at the second time of asking and is through to the second round where he'll face either Vishnu Vardhan of India or Slovakia's Blaz Kavcic.

19.37Nishikori and Tomic are into a second-set tie-break on 18. The former won the first on a breaker, remember.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 2-2* BellucciWe're back level as Tsonga remains steady eddie on serve.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 *1-2 BellucciBellucci puts the pressure back on Tsonga by holding serve in the third game of the third set.

19.31BREAK! Pospisil looks to have staved off victory for a little as he gets one break back against Ferrer, still 5-3 down.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 1-1* BellucciTsonga aces wide on the ad court to hold on to his serve and level the set at a game apiece.

19.28Bellucci has just chucked away two break-point chances against Tsonga.

19.28BREAK! Djokovic does what he does best and he's now a break up against Fognini, serving at 2-1 in the third.

19.26DOUBLE BREAK! Fourth seed Ferrer is within a game of triumph in his first-round match against Pospisil of Canada. The Spaniard serving at 5-2 in the second.

19.25Fognini has started the second well on No. 1 by holding to take a 1-0 lead against Djokovic. Now that WOULD be a shock.

19.24GAME, SET AND MATCH! Andy Murray's next opponent is revealed as Finland's Jarkko Nieminen ousts Somdev Devvarman of India 6-3 6-1.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 6-4 0-0* BellucciSET! We're level on Centre as Tsonga shows no remorse in holding serve and levelling the match. Into a decider we go.

19.21SET! Soeda comes out on top in the tie-break by eight points to six against Baghdatis.

Tsonga 6-7[5] *5-4 BellucciThe Brazilian holds to-30 and Tsonga must serve out the second.

19.17Meanwhile, over on Court 7 Russian veteran Nikolay Davydenko has just taken the first set 6-4 against fellow wrinkly-faced Czech Radek Stepanek.

19.17SET! No messing from Serbia's Djokovic as he closes out the second 6-2 in just 25 minutes against Fognini to send them into a deciding third set.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 5-3* BellucciThe Frenchman's within a game of the set as he holds to-15 on Centre. Both heavyweights who were struggling are now dominating their matches on the two showcourts.

19.13DOUBLE BREAK! NoDjo has a double break over on No. 1 and that looks set for a deciding set.

Tsonga 6-7[5] *4-3 BellucciBellucci won't give in too easily in this set and holds as Tsonga's return whistles past the baseline.

19.10Baghdatis and Soeda are into a tie-break in the first set over on 14.

Tsonga 6-7[5] 4-2* BellucciTsonga consolidates the hold to move within a couple of games of levelling the match.

19.07Djokovic comes through after facing 30-30 and is now 4-2 up in the second against Fognini.

19.06Ferrer of Spain has also just resumed his match on No. 2. The fourth seed is a set and a break up at 6-4 1-0.

Tsonga 6-7[5] *3-2 BellucciBREAK! The Frenchman has recovered from that shock first-set loss and breaks the Brazilian in the fifth game. We could be going to a decider on Centre.

19.04Japan's Soeda and Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis are at 5-5 in the first, while on 18 another Japanese, Nishikori, is at 7-6 1-1 against Aussie Tomic.

19.02Now that the sun is out we have eight games going on in the men's and women's singles.

19.02NoDjo has however recovered since then and is now a break up in the second.

19.00SET! Novak Djokovic comes out to resume his first-round match against Fabio Fognini locked at 7-7 in a tie-break in the opening set. The Italian starts better, winning the first two points to clinch the set.

18.58Sorry about the slight delay. Tsonga and Bellucci are at 2-2 in the second while over on No. 1 there's a massive shock...

18.48Right, I'm heading off now but I'll leave you in the capable hands of Pascal Lemesre, who will keep you up to date with this match and any others that might be given the go-ahead by the powers that be.

18.45SET! Well, well, well. Bellucci comes out on top in the tie-break to take it 7-5. Tsonga with it all to do now.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciA wild forehand from Tsonga gives Bellucci a set point...

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciNow a classy forehand volley puts Tsonga ahead, but Bellucci comes back to make it 5-5. Tense times on Centre Court.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciA nonchalant volley from Tsonga brings the French fifth seed level at 4-4.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciAnother error from Tsonga makes it 4-3 to Bellucci.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciIt's now 3-3...

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciBut Bellucci gets the mini-break with a big piece of luck as his shot flicks the net and goes in. Tsonga leads 3-2, Bellucci to serve.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciMake that 3-1 following Bellucci's long forehand.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciTsonga gets the mini-break and leads 2-1 as Bellucci puts a backhand inches wide.

Tsonga 6-6 BellucciBellucci holds and we're into a tie-break to decide this first set...

Tsonga 6-5* BellucciTsonga holds to love thanks to a emphatic smash down the line. Bellucci now serving to stay in this first set.

Tsonga *5-5 BellucciIt's another hold to love for Bellucci. Both players looking impenetrable out there at the moment...

18.29This is the second time that Bellucci has been on Centre Court in as many months. The first time saw him get beat in straight sets by Rafael Nadal at the Wimbledon Championships.

Tsonga 5-4* BellucciAnother hold to love from Tsonga. This one is just flying by.

Tsonga *4-4 BellucciSome powerful serving from Bellucci gives the Brazilian another hold. It's difficult to see if and where an break will come here.

Tsonga 4-3* BellucciAnother hold to love for the exuberant Tsonga. In other news, it seems that there might yet be a chance of tennis on the outside courts. Maybe even for Heather Watson and Laura Robson. For the umpteenth time, we'll let you know what's going on.

Tsonga *3-3 BellucciBellucci really fighting hard across the court there but quells the threat of Tsonga to hold.

Tsonga 3-2* BellucciRuthless from Tsonga as he holds to love.

Tsonga *2-2 BellucciTsonga had the whiff of a break there but Bellucci, who has plenty of Brazilian support inside Centre Court, relies on his serve to get him through and make it 2-2.

Tsonga 2-1* BellucciBoth men absolutely hammering the ball from the baseline but it's Tsonga who holds. Expect some big shots in this one.

Tsonga *1-1 BellucciBellucci looks equally comfortable as he holds his first service game.

Tsonga 1-0* BellucciTsonga starts strongly and holds.

18.02Here we go then, Tsonga to serve...

17.59This is the first ever match between these two so it's difficult to say which way it goes. Tsonga is obviously the favourite but Bellucci recently won the Swiss Open, beating Janko Tipsarevic in the final, so he should be full of confidence.

17.54As the rain still comes down on SW19 the next match on Centre Court sees French fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga take on Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci.

17.47The French Open champion will face either Britain's Laura Robson or Czech Ludmila Safarova in round two. What a draw that could be for Robson if she gets through...

17.46Thoroughly conclusive from Sharapova as she books her place in the second round in an hour and six minutes. The Russian seems totally undaunted at her first Olympics. And whay should she be when she's playing like this?

17.45GAME, SET AND MATCH! Peer 2-6 0-6 Sharapova

17.43However, a small handful of matches, including Novak Djokovic's clash with Fabio Fognini and David Ferrer's encounter with Vasek Pospisil are still being classed as delayed so we might see some action with those. As always, we'll let you know what's going on.

17.42Right, this gives me the chance to tell you that quite a few matches have been postponed today because of the weather. The main casualties are Laura Robson and Heather Watson in their singles matches, while we also won't be seeing Victoria Azarenka today.

Peer 2-6 *0-5 SharapovaJust wonderful from Sharapova. She wins her seventh game in a row with a lightning-quick backhand that flies past Peer. This one is all but over.

Peer 2-6 0-4* SharapovaBREAK! Peer is still scrapping away but Sharapova is scrapping harder and gets herself another break to take a 4-0 lead in this second set. And a baby is crying in the crowd.

Peer 2-6 *0-3 SharapovaSharapova consolidates her break and is staring at the second round.

Peer 2-6 0-2* SharapovaBREAK! Just as I say that Peer is looking up for it, Sharapova breaks to tighten her grip on the match.

Peer 2-6 *0-1 SharapovaIt's a real jostle out there between these two but Sharapova saves two break points to hold. Peer still looks up for the fight out there.

17.14That was very straightforward for Sharapova. Peer started well but couldn't contend with the Russian's powerful returns after that.

17.13SET! Peer 2-6 Sharapova

Peer *2-5 SharapovaAn almighty forehand gives Sharapova a hold of serve and she's now just one game away from taking this first set. Despite losing the opening set it's been very comfortable for the Russian.

Peer 2-4* SharapovaPeer is still scurrying around the court and holds to make it 2-4.

Peer *1-4 SharapovaSharapova firmly in control now as she holds thanks to some powerful strokes from the baseline.

Peer 1-3* SharapovaSharapova takes control with another break as Peer hits the net with a backhand. The Russian has won the last three games and it's looking ominous for the Israeli.

Peer *1-2 SharapovaThe Russian looks to be finding her rhythm now as she holds to lead 2-1.

16.48Okay, maybe we won't have play on the outside courts just yet. It's hammering it down at SW19.

Peer 1-1* SharapovaBREAK! Peer makes the double fault and Sharapova breaks back instantly. Is ti going to be one of those matches?

Peer *1-0 SharapovaBREAK! Sharapova's serve looks shaky already as Peer, who is wearing a wonderful pair of bright blue shoes, breaks.

16.39Here we go then, Sharapova to serve...

16.36Interestingly, this is Sharapova's first Olympic Games. It's a second for Peer who was defeated by another Russian and eventual bronze medallist Vera Zvonareva in the second round in 2008.

16.34We're hearing that the covers are off on the outside courts so it looks like play will resume shortly. We'll let you know when it does.

16.33Peer and Sharapova are out on court. The stats don't look good for the Israeli. She's lost all six of her matches against the Russian world number three.

16.31Sharapova, who won this year's French Open, is looking to become the eighth woman to win a Grand Slam and Olympic medal in the same year. The first? France's Helene Prevost in 1920 who took the silver and the French Open. The last? Belgium's Justine Henin-Hardenne who won Gold and the Australian Open in 2004. I knew those long afternoons would come in handy.

16.26Play is still suspended on the outside courts as we wait for the rain to clear but next up on Centre Court is Shahar Peer of Israel against Russia's Maria Sharapova.

16.23The Brit is likely to meet Jarrko Nieminen in the next round with the Fin 6-3 1-0 up against India's Somdev Devvarman after a break of serve at the start of the second set.

16.21Murray breaks for a second time in the set to book his place in the second round, much to the delight of the Centre Court crowd.

16.19GAME, SET AND MATCH! Murray 6-3 6-3 Wawrinka

Wawrinka 3-6 *3-5 MurrayMurray hits three aces on his way to a hold of serve and is now just one game away from round two. Wawrinka to serve.

Wawrinka 3-6 3-4* MurrayThat was some game. Murray squanders a couple of break points and Wawrinka capitalises by holding serve. Big opportunity missed for the Brit there but he still looks well on course for the second round.

Wawrinka 3-6 *2-4 MurrayMurray made that difficult for himself as a couple of double faults took it to deuce, but he eventually holds and is 4-2 ahead.

Wawrinka 3-6 2-3* MurrayThe Swiss holds to keep on Murray's tail. To update there's no play on the outside courts following storms of biblical proportions. Okay, maybe that's a bit over the top, but the weather's been pretty shocking.

Wawrinka 3-6 *1-3 MurrayWawrinka slams a forehand into the net and Murray leads 3-1. The Swiss is going to have to pull something special out of the bag here if he is to get back in this contest.

15.51Greg Norman in the front row of the royal box...

Wawrinka 3-6 1-2* MurrayWawrinka isn't going away in a hurry as the Swiss holds to love. Murray to serve.

Wawrinka 3-6 *0-2 MurrayThat was close. Wawrinka was hanging in there like a right pest but Murray manages to hold and consolidate the break.

Wawrinka 3-6 0-1* MurrayBREAK! Murray has 0-40 but is pegged back to deuce before eventually prevailing to get off to the perfect start in the second.

Wawrinka 3-6 *0-0 MurraySET! That's the way to do it! Murray holds to-love and wraps up the first with an ace down the middle.

Wawrinka 3-5* MurrayBREAK! Yes! It's brilliant from the third seed as he tracks down a Wawrinka volley before chipping a winner up the line. Murray will now serve for the opener.

15.26Wawrinka double faults and Murray has two crucial break points...

15.25We have a point won against the serve for the first time in a while! Murray is at 15-30.

15.23On a brighter note, it looks as if Great Britain will achieve their first medal of the Games as Lizzie Armistead is in a leading group of three cyclists in the women's road race. Mark Cavendish couldn't deliver yesterday but it looks like we might have some joy today. I'll let you know what colour Lizzie's medal is!

Wawrinka *3-4 MurrayThis is the only game on offer at the moment and it's lacking excitement as Murray sends down an ace to complete a fourth-straight love game.

Wawrinka 3-3* MurrayThis is very comfortable from both men on serve at the moment. A mishit return from Murray results in the third love game in a row.

Wawrinka *2-3 MurrayMurray returns the compliment with a love hold of his own. The Scot finishing off that one with a nice backhand winner.

Wawrinka 2-2* MurrayA love hold for Wawrinka as he lashes away an easy volley.

15.15The tennis was stopped at a really tense moment on No. 1! World number two Djokovic is locked at 7-7 in a first-set tie-break with Italy's Fognini!

15.13NO NO NO! The heavens have once again opened and the majority of matches on the outside courts are being suspended.

Wawrinka *1-2 MurrayNo trouble at deuce for Murray as he moves ahead in the set on Centre.

15.11Wawrinka misses an easy volley that would have set up break point before making up for it by hitting a forehand winner to push us to deuce.

15.09SET! Nishikori proves the strongest in the tie-break on 18 as he comes through to-4 against young Aussie Tomic.

Wawrinka 1-1* MurrayMurray dumps a forehand into the middle of the net to see Wawrinka come through a tough opening service game.

15.04Back to Centre and Wawrinka has chucked away a couple of chances of closing out this long game.

15.04Over on 18, Nishikori has just saved set points against Tomic and the pair are now into a first-set tie-break.

15.02SET! Ferrer holds serve to take the opening set against Canada's Pospisil 6-4.

15.01Wawrinka has saved three break points so far in this game. We're at deuce.

14.59Over on No. 2 Ferrer is about to serve for the first set at 5-4.

14.55Ok, we'll now be turning our main focus to Great Britain's Andy Murray, who is facing the Swiss number two Stanislas Wawrinka on Centre. Murray had to save a break point in game one but is now 1-0 ahead.

14.50Right, I'm off for a well-earned cup of tea. I'll be handing you back over to Pascal Lemesre who will guide you through the action.

Tomic 5-4* NishikoriIt's all change out there now as Tomic is in the ascendancy. The Aussie holds and goes 5-4 ahead.

Tomic *4-4 NishikoriBREAK! It's hard-hitting stuff out there and Tomic finds a break on the Nishikori serve.

14.41Right, we'll now be turning our attention to the match between Japan's 15th seed Kei Nishikori and Austrlian Bernard Tomic. Nishikori has just broken and will serve at 4-3.

14.40Goerges will meet either American Varvara Lepchenko or Paraguay's Veronica Cepede Royg in the next round.

14.38That's an sensational win for Goerges as she breaks Radwanska to claim a famous victory. The second seed is always dangerous and looked like she was going to turn the tie around, but the German held on, played some great tennis from the baseline and has booked her place in the second round.

14.35GAME, SET AND MATCH! Goerges 7-5 6-7 6-4 Radwanska

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] 5-4* RadwanskaIncredible stuff from Goerges. First of all she finds herself 40-15 ahead before Radwanska takes it to deuce. The German then digs deep to save a couple of break points before finally holding.

14.24Finally there is play on the other courts as Serbian second seed Novak Djokovic takes on Italy's Fabio Fognini, while Japanese 15th seed Kei Nishikori meets Australia's Bernard Tomic.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] *4-4 RadwanskaRadwanska looking more like her usual self as she plays some great stuff from the back of the court to hold to love.

14.16Believe it or not it looks like we're going to have some tennis on the other courts shortly...

14.12Okey doke, I'm off for a food break so my colleague Jack Prescott is gonna take over. Jack...

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] *3-3 RadwanskaBREAK! Goerges breaks back and we're level in the final set.

14.08Goerges has a break-point chance but she knocks a forehand long and we're at deuce.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] 2-3* RadwanskaGoerges stays in touch as she holds serve to stay within a game of the Wimbledon finalist.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] *1-3 RadwanskaNo such problems on serve for Radwanska as she holds to-love to take a two-game advantage in this final set.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] 1-2* RadwanskaBREAK! The Pole has taken the initiative in the final set as she breaks to-love! Bit of a bolt from the blue that one.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] *1-1 RadwanskaAn equally confident start to the set from Radwanska as she also holds to-love in her first service game of the decider.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] *1-1 RadwanskaAn equally confident start to the set from Radwanska as she also holds to-love in her first service game of the decider.

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] 1-0* RadwanskaGoerges doesn't look too downbeat after losing the second by holding to-love.

13.50Hello, hello. The covers are coming off on the outside courts and it looks as though we'll soon have more play! Yay!

Goerges 7-5 6-7[5] RadwanskaSET! The Polish number one does it at the fourth time of asking as Goerges mishits a backhand into the net. Game on.

Goerges 5-6 RadwanskaNor the third! She fires a backhand return wide and has just one chance left to take the set.

Goerges 4-6 RadwanskaNor the second as Goerges aces.

Goerges 3-6 RadwanskaShe can't take the first.

Goerges 2-6 RadwanskaRadwanska has four set points as she hits a forehand winner.

Goerges 1-5 RadwanskaAn ace from the German ensures she's on the board as the pair change ends.

Goerges 0-5 RadwanskaIt's five as the world number 24 is forced wide on the backhand side and can only find the tape of the net.

Goerges 0-4 RadwanskaThis is not what Goerges wanted. The German nets a forehand and she's now four down.

Goerges 0-3 RadwanskaFantastic forehand return winner sees the number two seed start the tie-break in the perfect manner.

Goerges 0-2 RadwanskaThe first mini-break goes Radwanska's way as Goerges pushes a backhand long.

Goerges 0-1 RadwanskaGood start for the pole as she holds the opening point.

Goerges 7-5 6-6 (0-0) RadwanskaGoerges races to 40-0 and is pegged back to 40-30 before delivering another ace down-the-middle. Tie-break time.

Goerges 7-5 *5-6 RadwanskaStill no break points as Radwanska once again is within a game of the set. One game from the tie-break.

13.36The sun's beaming over the All England Club but we still have covers on the outside courts. Come on!

Goerges 7-5 5-5* RadwanskaAnd she does with ease. We still haven't seen a break point in this second set.

Goerges 7-5 *4-5 RadwanskaNo problem holding for the Pole this time, she's now within a game of levelling the match. Goerges must hold.

13.31That's the rally of the match right there. Radwanska is on her knees playing a forehand but Goerges somehow gets it back before hitting her next backhand wide.

Goerges 7-5 4-4 RadwanskaStunning backhand up-the-line sends up a puff of chalk as it catches the edge of the line. Great shot from the German and we're back level.

13.28Radwanska challenges a mishit forehand and it's just long. Game point Goerges.

13.27Great serving from Goerges as she produces a second-serve ace at 15-30 down.

13.26Not a good start to the game for Goerges as she hits a naff forehand past the baseline.

13.25The ace count is certainly healthy in this one! Radwanska finds the service line and yet again moves ahead in the set. 4-3.

13.24Here's a chance for Goerges, deuce in game seven on the Radwanska serve.

13.23Outside of Centre the rain has again eased off as the sky brightens a little. Covers still on, mind.

13.20Nice from Goerges as she aces wide to set up 40-0 before booming down another ace to level the set at 3-3.

13.18Goerges dumps a forehand return into the net at 30-30 and Radwanska moves 3-2 ahead in the second with a second-serve ace.

13.17The tennis is offering little to get the Centre Court crowd excited at the moment. I think the majority are waiting for Murray vs. Wawrinka, which is due next on the main showcourt.

13.15Radwanska goes 15-30 ahead in the next but a forehand winner from the German gets us back to 30-30 before the 23-year-old wraps up the hold.

13.10Likewise from Radwanska, both women looking strong on serve.

13.07No nerves from Goerges though and we're level in the second.

13.06We're at 30-30 in the next as Radwanska looks to take an early advantage in the second.

13.03Radwanska holds in the opening game of the second, 1-0.

12.59SET! No mistake this time from the German. She sends out a wide serve that is ballooned back to the middle of the court for an easy forehand put-away. 7-5.

12.58What are these girls up to? Radwanska now puts an easy smash long. Set point number four.

12.57Unbelievable. Goerges approaches the net on her third bite of the cherry and is presented with a smash that she forces long! Back to deuce.

12.57The second has also gone as Goerge frames a forehand high, wide and handsome.

12.56Radwanska saves the first with a backhand return winner up-the-line.

12.56And the German has three set points at 40-0...

12.55There is still just the solitary match on Centre taking place, where Goerges was broken back midway through the set but is now serving for the set at 6-5 after breaking again.

12.54I'm terribly sorry but we experienced some technical difficulties just then but are back with you.

12.18BREAK! Goerges, ranked 24th in the world, gets off to the perfect start by breaking in the first service game. Radwanska was displaying good length but some unforced errors have seen her give away the early impetus.

12.15Here we go then. Radwanska begins the day's play at quarter past 12 with an unreturnable serve down the middle.

12.13Away from Centre the sun's out and perhaps we'll have play on the other courts soon too.

12.11Radwanska's sporting a blue dress with pink detailing that, surprisingly, has no text or flag to show who she is representing. Goerges, on the other hand, is in a more traditional white top with the red, black and yellow flag showing on her chest.

12.08Radwanska reached the final of Wimbledon three weeks ago but was defeated in three by Serena Williams. The Pole will be confident of progressing here as she's won her previous two matches against the German.

12.06First up on the main showcourt we have Julia Goerges of Germany up against the number two seed from Poland Agnieszka Radwanska.

12.05Ok, I can now confirm that the roof on Centre Court is over and play will begin shortly.

12.03Here's the latest from BBC Sport: "Wimbledon wouldn't be the same without a spot of rain, but this is more than a spot - it's absolutely chucking it down! One minute everyone's reaching for the sunblock, the next their ponchos and brollies. The grey skies above suggest a frustrating day ahead? Centre Court roof at the ready."

12.00There were a couple of big shocks yesterday, with men's sixth seed Tomas Berdych crashing out, while in the women's draw fifth seed Sam Stosur of Australia was defeated in a three-set epic. 11.51Away from the tennis, you can also follow our live coverage of the swimming, which is of course not affected by the rain, by clicking here.

11.47@Wimbledon has just tweeted this: "Welcome to day 2 of the @OlympicsTennis... Drizzling around the grounds at the moment so play may be delayed." Insightful.

11.46We can't see if the roof is over on Centre but surely the organisers have seen the forecast and know that the showers are likely to persist throughout the afternoon?

11.44The coverage at the moment is extremely limited at Wimbledon. All we're being shown is a covered Court 18 that they're labelling as Court 4 - WRONG!

11.41It's also tipping it down on The Mall as the women's road race is about to get underway in the cycling. We now how to do rain in this country.

11.35We're getting lots of sombre shots of the covered courts of Wimbledon as the rain continues to beat down. It really looks familiar, can't think why.

11.27We won't be getting underway in around ten minutes then! At least there's the roof on Centre eh?

11.25Uh oh. It's POURING with rain at Wimbledon.

11.22Click here for a full round-up of the pick of today's matches. Go on.

11.2115th seed Kei Nishikori is also getting his bid for gold underway in about ten minutes against the young Aussie Bernard Tomic.

11.20Arguably the pick of the early starters is Spain's David Ferrer, who takes on Canada's Vasek Pospisil on No. 2 Court.

11.18Quick piece of news, Germany's Philipp Kohschreiber has pulled out of the Games and is replaced by India's Vishnu Vardhan, the world number 302.

11.14Right, enough of the weather and back to the tennis. We have nine singles matches due to get underway in around 15 minutes, five men's and four women's.

11.11At the moment the sun is shining at the All England Club so let's hope it stays that way!

11.09Despite this prospect, there is a serious chance of the age-old wet Wimbledon weather ruining proceedings this afternoon. Showers are expected in London and this means we might only see play on the roof-covered Centre Court.

11.08Morning all! We have another top day of tennis lined up at SW19 with some huge names in action in both the singles and doubles.
