Maria Sharapova has insisted that her recent defeat to Serena Williams at the Olympics will motivate her to improve for the upcoming US Open.
The Russian was swept away 6-0 6-1 at Wimbledon on Saturday as she picked up a silver medal for Russia in what was her first ever Games.
"If I sat here and thought there was nothing I could do, that would probably be very disappointing," said Sharapova.
"It will motivate me to keep going and keep practising. There are certainly things I could have done better but she was playing really good tennis."
Sharapova will play either Arantxa Rus or Christina McHale in the second round of this week's Montreal Cup.
