Ernests Gulbis continues perfect ATP Tour record in finals

Latvia's Ernests Gulbis extends his perfect record in ATP finals by beating defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6 6-4 to win the Open 13 in Marseille.

Latvia's Ernests Gulbis extended his perfect record in ATP finals on Sunday by beating defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6 6-4 to win the Open 13 in Marseille.

The first 12 games all went with serve, taking the opening set to a tie-break, which Gulbis claimed 7-5.

Gulbis created eight break points in the second set, but only converted one of them.

However, that was all he needed, as he was dominant on serve, hitting seven aces.

Gulbis now has five wins from five Tour finals, having previously triumphed at the Farmers Classic, the St. Petersburg Open and twice at the Delray Beach Open.
