Milos Raonic safely through in Madrid

Milos Raonic records a routine straight-sets win over Juan Monaco to reach round three of the Madrid Open.

Milos Raonic has seen off Juan Monaco in straight sets to reach the third round of the Madrid Open.

The Canadian broke in the fourth game of the opening set before holding to take a 4-1 lead. He then kept his cool after that to close it out 6-3 with half an hour played.

Raonic looked the more likely to break in the second as his rock-solid serve remained impenetrable, and he found it late on before securing a 6-3 6-4 triumph.

Waiting for the world number six in round three of the tournament will be either Leonardo Mayer or Feliciano Lopez.
