Andy Murray has announced that he will not defend his title at the Rogers Cup in Toronto next week.
The world number two has not played a match since winning his second Wimbledon title with victory over Milos Raonic at SW19 earlier this month.
Murray watched on from the sidelines as Great Britain beat Serbia in the Davis Cup at the weekend, and he will also now miss the Rogers Cup for the first time since his debut appearance in 2006.
"I always look forward to coming to Canada and it's the first time I've missed the tournament, the guys there do a great job and always look after the players," he said in a statement.
"My body needs some recovery time after reaching the latter stages of tournaments over the past few months.
"I'm sorry to my fans in Toronto but I look forward to being back in Canada next year."
The three-time Rogers Cup champion will instead train in Mallorca as he prepares to defend his Olympic title in Rio de Janeiro next month.
