Richard Gasquet overcame the challenge of wildcard Steve Johnson to seal a place in the fourth round of the US Open.
The French 13th seed took the opening set 7-4 in the tie-break after both players had held serve.
He then comfortably came through the second 6-2 before wrapping up the win against the American 6-3.
Waiting for Gasquet in the last 16 is fourth seed David Ferrer following his victory over Lleyton Hewitt.
