Roger Federer reaches 11th Wimbledon final with win over Tomas Berdych

Roger Federer beats Tomas Berdych in straight sets to reach his 11th Wimbledon final.

Roger Federer has defeated Tomas Berdych in straight sets to reach his 11th Wimbledon final.

The seven-time champion has not won at SW19 since 2012, but he is one victory away from a historic eighth crown after emerging victorious over Berdych by a 7-6 7-6 6-4 scoreline.

Throughout this week, the Swiss has witnessed Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal all bow out of the third Grand Slam of 2017 and despite the door being left ajar, he continues to show no kind of pressure.

Berdych, too, impressed on Centre Court as he twice broke a serve which has barely been tested all tournament, but he was on the back foot during both tie-breaks and he succumbed 7-4 on each occasion.

Federer had to contend with more break points in the third but this time, he denied his Czech opponent and eventually went on to seal his triumph in two hours and 18 minutes.

Marin Cilic lies in wait in Sunday's final, having gotten the better of Sam Querrey over four sets.
