Diego Maradona: 'Juan Roman Riquelme is a traitor'

Argentine legend Diego Maradona reignites his feud with fellow countryman Juan Roman Riquelme.

Diego Maradona has launched a verbal attack on Juan Roman Riquelme following the latter's decision to leave Boca Juniors.

Veteran midfielder Riquelme made the announcement that he was ending his stint with Boca following Wednesday's Copa Libertadores defeat to Brazilian side Corinthians.

It is a decision that has angered Maradona, who had two playing spells with Boca during his career.

"If you feel empty, fill yourself up. Riquelme has betrayed 75% of the country, who are Boca fans," the Argentine legend told Perros de la Calle.

Maradona's outburst is the latest incident in a long feud between the two countrymen. However, the 51-year-old has insisted that he is not to blame for the differences in opinion.

"I did not fight with Riquelme, he fought with me. I want both Argentina and Boca fans to know that, I have never even had a chat with him [about the issue]," he added.

Maradona was recently sacked as coach of Al Wasl.
