Arsene Wenger charged by UEFA

Arsene Wenger is likely to face a fine after UEFA confirm that the Frenchman breached his original touchline ban.

UEFA have confirmed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will face action for breaching his touchline ban on Tuesday.

The 61-year-old communicated with his staff in the dugout during Arsenal’s victory over Udinese in the first leg of the Champions League play-off despite being banned from the touchline.

The Frenchman has been charged with “not abiding by the decisions of the UEFA control and disciplinary body", said the governing body.

"According to the UEFA disciplinary regulations, a manager may not communicate with his team during the match for which he is suspended and may follow the game from the stands only,” they added.

"Wenger was serving the suspension which the UEFA control and disciplinary body handed down following the English team's round of 16 match at FC Barcelona in the same competition last season.”

The Gunners manager is likely to be fined after the case, which will be heard on Monday, August 22.
