Arsene Wenger: 'Eddie Nketiah will get chances in Arsenal first team'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that teenage striker Eddie Nketiah will continue to get chances in the first team after scoring two goals in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is looking for opportunities to "integrate" academy prospects into Premier League action.

On Tuesday night, 18-year-old Eddie Nketiah came off the bench to score a double which earned the Gunners a 2-1 victory over Norwich City in the EFL Cup fourth round.

Wenger has claimed that he intends to keep using the teenager in the first team, but suggested that more players could eventually make the step up to the senior setup.

The Frenchman told reporters: "He will continue to get a chance. The biggest problem in the Premier League is for the first time since I'm in England that we have a consistent level of results in the youth teams.

"That means the quality is there and the next step is to integrate them in the league."

As many as seven academy graduates featured during the victory over the Canaries at the Emirates Stadium.
