Arsene Wenger plays down new contract reports

Arsene Wenger plays down reports that he will sign a new deal at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has played down reports that he will sign a new contract at Arsenal.

Wenger had been widely tipped to ink an extended deal at the Emirates, but the Frenchman has said that the reports are wide of the mark.

"I have two years to go [on the current deal]," said Wenger.

"I think in the past I've always shown my commitment to this club and at the moment I am not due to think about the long-term future.

"We want to do well this season that's all. At the moment, I am not interested in a national job."

Wenger has been Arsenal's manager since 1996.
