Arsene Wenger will attempt to bring French midfielder Yoann Gourcuff to the Emirates on loan this winter, with a view to a permanent deal.
The London club had a late £20m offer for the Olympique Lyonnais star rejected in the summer, but the 25-year-old remains the manager's top target, according to the Daily Star.
Wenger is understood to be eager to bring the former Milan man to the club as soon as possible, while the two sides work towards a longer-term deal.
The Frenchman has had an up-and-down career since leaving Rennes for Milan in 2006, prior to a return to France with Bordeaux in 2009 after an initial loan stint at the club.
In 2010, Gourcuff joined Lyon for £19m, but has been out of the team following an ankle injury.
