Arsenal are reportedly prepared to meet the £44.5m release clause of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to meet the release clause of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey during the next transfer window.

While the Ghana international is regarded as a key man by Diego Simeone, the option in the 26-year-old's contract inevitably makes him a target for some of European football's top clubs.

As they look to strengthen in the middle of the pitch, Arsenal have been heavily linked with an approach for Partey ahead of next season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Gunners are prepared to activate the player's release clause, said to be set at £44.5m.

Although Atletico are keen to retain his services, it has been claimed that Partey is prepared to consider offers from elsewhere before making a decision on his future.

Partey has made 29 starts and three substitute outings in Spain's top flight and the Champions League during the current campaign.
