Everton have reportedly made a last-gasp attempt to sign Alex Iwobi from Arsenal before the transfer deadline.
The Toffees have been in the market for a new winger after being priced out of a move for Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, but they were knocked back with an initial £30m approach for Iwobi.
However, the Daily Mail reports that they have tested Arsenal's resolve again with an improved offer of around £40m just before the 5pm deadline.
Transfers can still go through after the deadline as long as deal sheets are submitted to the Premier League beforehand, although it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit completed the paperwork in time.
Iwobi made 35 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season but could find his first-team chances more limited this term following the club-record arrival of Nicolas Pepe.
