Mesut Ozil 'in no rush' to extend Arsenal deal

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil insists that he is in "no rush" to begin new contract talks with the Gunners.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has said that "there is no rush" for him to extend his contract at the Emirates.

The German international has been in impressive form for the Gunners this season – registering 15 assists in the Premier League, including two in their 2-1 win over Manchester City on Monday night.

It is understood that Arsenal are keen to further extend the World Cup winner's deal, but Ozil has insisted that there is no reason to panic.

"There is no rush to sign a new contract," Ozil told Kicker. "My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.

"I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one. There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here."

Ozil, 27, joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and is fast closing on 100 appearances for the London side.
