Remi Garde calls for Aston Villa focus after Everton loss

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde calls on his side to not give up on their mission of survival after the 4-0 loss at Everton.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has called for his side to remained focused after the 4-0 loss to Everton on Saturday, and insisted that nobody at the club will give up their mission of survival.

Villa are rock bottom of the Premier League table with just four points from their first 13 matches after the thrashing at Goodison Park, and their winless league run was extended to 12 matches and 15 weeks since the opening day victory over Bournemouth.

Garde admitted his disappointment at his side's performance but insisted that they must remember that their targets has not changed despite the latest setback.

"We played against a very good team with players who are used to their manager and play a certain way and they did it very well, tt was hard – probably too hard – for us to cope with them," he told the club's official website.

"We know that the mission is very difficult but nobody will let it go. The confidence in the team is low but I still think there is quality in the team. The mission has not changed.

"I was disappointed - and the players too. We could have done much better. The Premier League is very physically demanding and in the first 45 minutes we could not answer. When you cannot, you are in trouble - and we were.

"There are a lot of points to get so let's stay focused and all together. I saw a lot of disappointment in the changing room. I know we have a lot of work to do. We will do it, we are in a big club here at Aston Villa so no-one has the right to let it down."

Villa next face a vital home clash with Watford next Saturday.
