Paul Lambert: 'We deserved more credit for beating Arsenal'

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes that his side deserved more credit for their 3-1 victory away at Arsenal on Saturday.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes that his side should have received more credit for a "brilliant" performance against Arsenal on Saturday.

Villa recorded a 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium, and while Lambert can understand why the focus was placed on their opponents, he has admitted that he was disappointed that his players did not gain more praise for their display.

The 44-year-old told the Birmingham Mail: "When the team who aren't expected to win do win, they maybe don't get the credit that they deserve.

"I thought that we were brilliant. On the day, I thought that we thoroughly deserved to win the game.

"I understand how people have an inquest of what happened at Arsenal. I just don't think our team got the credit that they deserved. It was a brilliant performance."

Villa make their second visit to London in the space of a week on Wednesday when they play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
