Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar believes that the team needs to be more consistent this season.

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar has admitted that the team needs to be more consistent this season.

The Villans have endured their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign with one win out of six leaving them in 15th place.

"The most important thing is consistency and we haven't shown that," said Dutchman Vlaar.

"With a young team like ours, you know you're going to have ups and downs, and we know we have to be more consistent."

Vlaar joined the Midlands club over the summer from Feyenoord for £4m.
