Half-Time Report: Antoine Griezmann double puts Atletico Madrid in control

Two goals from Antoine Griezmann help Atletico Madrid into a 2-0 lead away at Deportivo La Coruna.

Atletico Madrid are on course to open up a four-point advantage in third place in La Liga after moving into a 2-0 half-time lead over Deportivo La Coruna.

The visitors opened the scoring after just five minutes when Antoine Griezmann beat the offside trap before producing a confident finish to beat the goalkeeper.

Deportivo responded well without creating anything of note, but, midway through the half, Griezmann netted his second after capitalising on a loose ball inside the penalty area to find the bottom corner.

The second goal stifled any momentum that Deportivo had been building, and Atletico looked increasingly comfortable in possession as the half ticked to a close.

The home side made a late bid to reduce the deficit before the half-time whistle, but, after failing to threaten Jan Oblak in the Atletico goal, they were left with much to do in the second period.
