Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia as an ideal replacement for Thomas Partey.
In the final few hours of the summer transfer window, Partey's release clause was triggered by Arsenal, who proceeded to complete a £45m deadline day swoop for the Ghanaian midfielder.
Now, Atletico have been granted 30 days to find an emergency replacement, and according to Marca, Diego Simeone's side have earmarked Kondogbia as a potential signing.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the past and has just under two years left on his deal at Valencia, where he boasts seven goals from 99 appearances across all competitions.
However, with Valencia having already said goodbye to a number of first-team players over the past few months, the Bats have reportedly told Atletico that they will need to trigger his release clause - which is unknown - to get their man.
Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin, Ferran Torres and Rodrigo all left Valencia during the summer transfer window, and Javi Gracia's side have won two, drawn one and lost two so far in the 2020-21 La Liga campaign.
