Barcelona forward Lionel Messi does light training on Thursday despite suffering a knee injury against Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Lionel Messi trained with the rest of his Barcelona teammates on Thursday despite picking up a knock on Wednesday.

The Argentine forward was stretchered off during his side's goalless draw with Benfica at home in the Champions League with an injury to his left knee.

Barcelona had already confirmed on Wednesday night that Messi had suffered only a bruise and that he could take part in their La Liga game against Real Betis this weekend.

The 25-year-old took part in light training on Thursday and is delighted that his injury is not serious.

"I sincerely thought it was the last ball I would be touching for a long time because of the pain," he said. "I tried to go ahead and shoot but I didn't have the strength."

Barcelona are currently six points clear at the top of the league table.
