Scott Brown says that Celtic can go a lot further in the Champions League than the last 16.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has labelled his side's progression to the knockout stages of the Champions League as an "incredible achievement".

The Bhoys advanced as runners-up from Group G after beating Spartak Moscow 2-1 at Celtic Park on Wednesday.

The SPL champions qualified for the last 16 despite being touted at the underdogs. However, Brown now feels that Celtic can go a lot further in the tournament.

"It's awesome, an incredible achievement by the lads. We've been amazing at home and worked hard on our defending and counter-attacking as well," said Brown.

"We're through to the last 16 and that's all that matters. We've shown we deserve to be here. Our home form has been phenomenal again and for us to get 10 points, the first Scottish club to do so, is fantastic.

"I don't think it really matters who we get [in the last 16]. It's going to be two hard games, but I think it's our home form that's going to be decisive. I don't see why we can't go further in the competition, especially with our away form improving as well. As a team we're improving all the time and it's a good place to be at the moment."

The draw for the last 16 takes place on December 20.
